This dude,

Needed some help on his 3d model so i figured HEY! this is a good chance to make a tutorial!
(i apologize in advance for typos and spelling errors XD)
Modeling anime faces can be confusing even if you've modeled a human face before. Conventional methods like working form a square simply might not work. My method is more free form, and permits awkward forms easily, at least to me anyway.
This tutorial doesn't explain what the topology rules 'are' just my process for modeling them on an anime character. The source material comes from an awesome tutorial Phung Dinh Dzung. I suggest you read that tutorial before doing this tutorial.
[link]This Is meant for people somewhat already familiar with blender, explaining everything might make this far too long. Not only that i avoid some details because everyones drawings are different you'll need to be creative in modeling them.
Also i'm sorry its a bit dull, i'm not quite used to GIMP. I'm a Photoshop person normally.
If my process seems familiar then it might be because i used to be very into spline modeling with animation master. That's basically where this modeling process comes from. So if you've ever seen or used that you'll be right at home.

But i'm having trouble finding the 'import image as plane' plugin, could you lend me some help?
Any suggestions for tutorials just to get me started on learning the techniques needed to complete this amazing tutorial? Thanks in advance.
^tht video series seems really really good for learning the basics of blender.
The main things used in this tutorial are the plugins "import image to plane" for the reference, a modifier called "mirror", and keyboard shortcuts which are necessary for modeling.
the most important short cuts being extrude ("E"), fill ("F"), merge ("Alt+M")and the transform shortcuts ("G,S, and R").
that, a good reference image, and the basics are all you need to get started.
if you have any further questions feel free to ask.
I signed up for deviantart because of this post and so far it's
a ton better than all of those other crappy websites where the
users take up to 4 months to reply.
Thanks again by the way and if it's not a problem I'll come back
any time I need some more help for a simpleton like me ^_^
look forward to seeing your work!
also if you like good art communities, i hang around this google+ community alot [link]
the people there are actually part of what inspired me to get drawing daily. I'm sure they'll motivate you too
I also get on google hangouts with the group from time to time and screenshare when i'm working, so if you need help you might find me there.
I'll take a bit more of a look into that art community. I love drawing it's just I never really feel compelled to draw and I just end up drawing either in class or rarely at home.
Hopefully I'll start uploading soon. Blender things of course since I can't really draw (come to think of it I need to find some nice drawing tutorials o__o) though thanks again, hopefully get in touch with you sometime soon.

looking forward to your work.
